Cleveland, TN: Dave Triplett of Eustis, FL picked up the biggest and most lucrative win of his accomplished racing career at last weekend’s Million Dollar Race at Memphis Motorsports Park. Triplett wheeled his small block powered Neil & Parks dragster to the 0,000 windfall with a final round defeat of Idaho racer Aaron Marcum.

Triplett not only depends on the K&R Pro-Cube Delay Box, but also the K&R Pro-Stage system and Switch Panel & Wiring kit. In fact, both finalists were equipped with K&R Pro-Cube delay boxes and switch panels, and three of the four semi-finalists depend on K&R, as Chris Johnson’s machine is also K&R equipped.
While victory in the million dollar race would obviously be the highlight of any sportsman competitors career, Triplett is certainly no stranger to the winner circle. Prior to acquiring his current dragster, Triplett wheeled a pair of gorgeous Vega‘s, which he still owns and races occasionally, to countless big bracket wins throughout the Southeast. In addition to various event wins, Triplett won an unprecedented three NHRA Division 2 E.T. Championships from 1994 to 1997.
En route to his Million Dollar Race conquest, Triplett wheeled his dragster through a field of the best bracket racers in the nation. He started his day by defeating legendary bracket competitor and fellow Florida resident Randy Folk in round one. After dispensing Mike Morehead in round two, he survived a .001 margin of victory beside former NHRA World Champion Bryan Robinson. In round four he advanced past perennial hitter Shane Carr by a scant .004. He then drove past Danny Nelson and Bob Henry in rounds five and six respectively to ensure a large payday; as the remaining 14 drivers in round seven redistributed the massive purse.
Triplett then overcame possibly his toughest hurdle of the day, defeating one of, if not the premier sportsman racer in the nation, Peter Biondo in a round seven tilt decided by just .0006 seconds. In the quarterfinal round, Triplett won another squeaker, a .007 decision over Greg Brotherton, before laying down a .012 package to defeat North Carolina standout Tommy Plott in the semi-final round. In the final, Triplett was clutch once again, posting a .017 reaction and dead-on 4.872 to defeat Marcum and take the lions share of the largest purse in drag racing.
Other K&R Performance customers also experienced success throughout the Million Dollar Race weekend, as Justin Melton earned a runner-up finish in Friday’s ,000-to-win event behind the wheel of his M&M dragster. Luke Bogacki also took runner-up honors in his familiar Mickey Thompson Tires backed Vega in Sunday’s ,000-to-win event. Both machines are equipped with a complete line of K&R Performance Engineering products, including the Pro-Cube Delay Box and Switch Panel.

Rodden & Harris Leave Kentucky ,000 Richer, Blackburn & Reed appear in back-to-back finals!
Morehead, KY: The weekend of July 29-30 brought the DragRaceResults.com Bracket Series to Owingsville, KY and Bluegrass Raceway Park for the Kentucky Bracket Nationals presented by K&R Performance Engineering.
Saturday’s event was run to completion despite threatening skies, occassional drizzle, and a relatively low car count. Kevin Rodden of K&R Performance Engineering became the closest thing to a repeat winner in Super Pro along the extremely competitive DragRaceResults.com Bracket Series in 2006, as he did his runner-up finish from February (Valdosta, GA) one better. Rodden used a minute starting advantage (.014 to .015) to knock off national points leader Luke Bogacki in a double-breakout final. Dwayne Blair was the lone semi-finalist.
Rodden, who recently moved his family and business to Cleveland, TN from their previous base of Cocoa, FL earned ,000 for his efforts. Bogacki claimed his second runner-up of the season in his third BTE Super Pro final round appearance, and stretched his points lead over second place Drew Phillips. Bogacki has amassed 29 points over five races, and leads Phillips by seven rounds.
In Jeg’s Sportsman, it was Joe Lemley claiming the Saturday victory behind the wheel of his stick shift Chevy II, as he knocked off the always tough Anthony Blackburn in the final. Both finalists earned additional accolades on the weekend, as Lemley was presented with the MGM Best Engineered Car award, and Blackburn claimed Saturday’s Barker Trailer Sales/Pace American “Run for the Trailer” win.
Erica Stormes came out on top of a great battle in the Race Tech Junior Dragster final round with opponent Josh Reed. Stormes, of Eminence, KY nailed the tree with a clutch .506 reaction, but actually trailed Reed’s stellar .505 off the line. At the other end, it was Stormes taking the victory, however, with a 7.96 on her 7.93 dial, while Reed broke out with a 7.89 on his 7.91 target.
Joe Wright took the win in Jeg’s Trophy, and Chris Garrett picked up the Saturday Barker Trailer Sales/Pace American “Run for the Trailer” money in BTE Super Pro. Super Pro national title contender Drew Phillips picked up 0 courtesy of K&R Performance Engineering for a perfect .500 reaction in round one (Phillips’ uses both the K&R Pro-Cube Delay box and K&R Switch Panel).
Sunday, things really began to heat up at Bluegrass Raceway Park, as temperatures neared 95 degrees, and the on-track competition was even hotter! Jonathon Clay (Super Pro) and Rob Lawson (Sportsman) started the day by claiming the Barker Trailer Sales/Pace American “Run for the Trailer” victories. Clay’s King Kutter teammate Bobby Harris ended the day with a ,000 win in BTE Super Pro.
Harris’ win was yet another chapter in the novel of parity within the series in 2006, as he is the series’ thirty-first different BTE Super Pro winner in as many events. Harris drove his King Kutter backed entry to a final round victory over Roy Blair when Blair fouled with a .495 red-light.
Anthony Blackburn drove his feared Chevy II to his second final round in as many days, and picked up the win in Jeg’s Sportsman over Jackie Jent in the Sunday final.
In Race Tech Jr. Dragster, Kevin Rodden’s son Eric continued the family domination of the weekend, as he drove his K&R Performance Engineering backed Race Tech Jr. Dragster to the class win over Josh Reed, who took runner-up honors for the second consecutive day. Rodden’s win moved him into a tie for second place in the national Jr. Dragster points standings, with the top three drivers (Chris Sons, Rodden, and Misti Mayse) separated by just a single point!
Luke Bogacki added to his take for the weekend with a 0 bonus from K&R Performance Engineering for claiming the K&R 1st Round Challenge with a perfect .5000 reaction time behind the wheel of Derrick Denney’s Race Tech Dragster. Sue Martin claimed the victory in Jeg’s Trophy on Sunday in her Chevrolet pick up, and Tim Lighty earned MGM Best Appearing Car honors for the weekend with his gorgeous Chevy II from South Point, OH.
With just 8 events remaining on the 2006 DragRaceResults.com Bracket Series schedule, the nationwide and divisional points chases in each category are coming down to the wire--and literally dozens of competitors in each class still have national title hopes! The series picks back up this weekend (August 4-6) at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel, GA with the Sunshine Bracket Nationals presented by Wheeler Power Products. The series then continues it’s summer run (of 10 consecutive weekends) at the Texas Motorplex (August 12-13) and Quaker City Raceway (August 19-20). K&R Performance Engineering would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Larry Ericksmoen on his recent back-to-back final round appearances with his Miller Race Cars built Dragster. Ericksmoen, who utilizes the complete line of K&R Performance Products, including the Pro-Cube Delay Box, Pro-Stage Throttle Controller, and SPD-II Switch Panel & Wiring System, drove to a final round appearance at the IHRA Spring Nationals in Rockingham, NC two weeks ago. There, he fell victim to a great run by fellow K&R Performance Engineering customer and defending IHRA Quick Rod World Champion, Troy Williams, Jr. Troy also counts on the K&R Pro Cube Delay Box and SPD-II Switch Panel & Wiring System for his consistent reactions and reliable machine.
Ericksmoen followed up his runner-up finish in Rockingham by finishing the job the following weekend at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, TN. There, he drove the same familiar dragster to a final round victory over the always tough Shane Carr. Along the way, Ericksmoen defeated some of the toughest drivers in the sport, including Ray Connolly, Ken Moses, and Mike Fuqua.
